Tennis Tournaments & Highlights
For over 70 years, numerous tennis greats have graced the courts at The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. Their contributions to the game have been enormous and made them instantly recognizable when recounting the top players of each era. This Who’s Who list includes the likes of Pancho Gonzales, Jack Kramer, Ted Schroeder, Maureen Connolly, Billie Jean King, Stan Smith, Arthur Ashe, Roscoe Tanner, and John McEnroe.
La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club plays host to national tennis tournaments every year, including the Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championships, USTA National Hard Court Championships for the Women’s 50-90, USTA National Men’s & Women’s 40 & over Hard Courts, and the USTA National Father & Son Hard Court Championships. The Club hosted the 2008 Fed Cup, and was also the proud host of the 2006 Davis Cup First Round Tie between the United States and Romania.
