La Jolla Beach & Tennis Resort Policies

Welcome to The Club. We invite you to stay, relax, play, and enjoy all that the La Jolla Shores have to offer. Please keep the following guidelines in mind as you enjoy your stay.

Arrivals & Departures

• Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Late check-out may be arranged based on availability. Guests departing prior to their confirmed check-out date will still be charged for the full duration of their reservation.
• Registered hotel guests may host up to four visitors per day.
• Standard Rate: $30 per adult and $10 per child (ages 5–10); no charge for children under 5.
• Peak Season (July 1–Labor Day): $40 per adult and $20 per child (ages 5–10); no charge for children under 5.
• All visitors must be registered in advance by calling 858.551.4678 or emailing GuestRegistration@LJBTC.com. Fees will be charged to the room reservation.

Beach

• Our beach is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Swimming, kayaking, and surfing are permitted by the county in designated sections of the beach.
• Alcoholic beverages and glass bottles are permitted on the beach.
• Please note that all California State Alcohol Beverage Control laws are enforced at all times.
• Amplified music is not allowed on the beach.
• Swimmers use the beach at their own risk. The Club does not provide lifeguards and is not responsible for injuries incurred while using the beach.
• The Club is not responsible or liable for articles collected, damaged, lost or stolen.

Beach Equipment

• Beach Equipment will be available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Please check in with Beach Services staff located in the north, middle, and south areas of the beach to register for your chair and beach set up. 
• Lounge chairs, umbrellas, and side tables will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. You must have your Member ID ready and be present to check out beach equipment. 
• Upon registration, the Beach Attendant will clip a red flag to beach chairs. 
• Please ensure inflatable rafts are kept off the Esplanade so other guests may pass.
• Smoking is not permitted on the beach or in any area of The Club.

Beach Barbeques

• Equipment per reserved spot is limited to one table, 10 chairs, and one barbecue per party.
• Beach party locations are not guaranteed, but we will do our best to accommodate and happily accept requests. 
• Barbeques will be set up on the beach and may be lit at 5 p.m. (4 p.m. after daylight saving)
• Personal barbeques, personal fire pits, and outside firewood or charcoal are not permitted.
• Cancellations, no-shows, and cancellations due to weather-related issues are subject to a late fee or full charge after noon on the day of the reservation. 
• Food and beverages are available by placing a take-out order with Club Dining, either through the member app, by calling 858.551.4668, or by visiting the hostess. 
• Our Sunset Beach Barbeque Shopping List is also available by placing your orders 24 hours in advance. 
• Community Grills: One (1) will be available every weekday starting June 15 through Labor Day weekend, and two (2) community grills will be available on weekends. 

Children’s Playground

• The Playground is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to sunset. 

Credit Authorization

• I understand that funds from my CREDIT CARD will be authorized and held for the total estimated amount of my stay, including each night’s room & tax and an additional daily amount for incidentals. I understand that these funds will be held and released 48-72 hours or longer after my departure date depending on my financial institution. The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club Inc. will not be held responsible for any overdraft fees or fees of any kind as a result of this fund authorization.
• DEBIT CARDS: I understand that funds from my debit card will be DEDUCTED for the total estimated amount of my stay, including each night’s room & tax and an additional daily amount for incidentals. I understand that these funds will be held and any credit due will be released 3 to 10 business days or longer after my departure date depending on my financial institution

Dining

• Club Dining is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• The Walnut Lounge is open daily 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the last food order accepted at 8:30 p.m.
  • You must be 21 or over to enter the Walnut Lounge
• You may place your order on the app, at the hostess stand, or call ahead at 858.551.4668.
• Footwear and cover-ups/shirts are required at all times in the Club Dining and Walnut Lounge areas.
• We are licensed to sell bottles of beer and wine to-go

Drones

• Use of drones is prohibited in all Club areas.

Fitness Center

• Proper fitness attire and exercise shoes must be worn while using the equipment.
• Register for class at the front desk.
• Please bring your own yoga mat, towel, and water. 

Golf

• Golfers use the course at their own risk and are responsible for damages or injuries from the flight of their golf ball.
• Golf fees will be charged to your guest room and are $7.50 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $6 for children (ages 6-12).
• Golf Clubs for use on the course are complimentary and available in the bin near the pro shop.

• Proper fitness attire and exercise shoes must be worn while using the equipment.

Guarantee and Cancellation Policy

• All reservations require a credit card deposit of the first night’s room and tax for each week booked.
• Stays between July 1 and Labor Day must modify or cancel their reservation at least 90 days before arrival, or the deposit will be forfeited.
• Stay dates outside of the above time period that are 14 nights or longer must be modified or canceled at least 30 days prior to arrival, or the deposit will be forfeited.
• All other stay dates (excluding Advanced Purchase and Extended Summer Promotion) must be modified or canceled seven days prior to the scheduled arrival date or the deposit will be forfeited.
• Reservations booked under the Extended Summer Promotion must be paid in full at the time of booking. The reservation is non-refundable 24 hours of making the reservation.
• Advanced Purchase: This offer cannot be combined with other offers. A 14-day advance purchase is required. Full prepayment is due at the time of booking. It is non-refundable after 24 hours.
• Stays booked under the Black Friday Sale special promotional rate are non-refundable.
• Cancellation and deposit policies may vary based on rate type or group contracts. If you have any questions, please contact a reservations agent at 1.858.454.7126.
• Reservations can be canceled up to 24 hours after booking, provided the cancellation occurs at least 72 hours before the scheduled arrival.

Guest Policy

• Registered hotel guests are permitted up to ten visitors per day, and guest fees are assessed at $30 per day for adults (13+) and $10 per day for children (6-12 years old). 
• Policy and pricing are subject to change. All persons staying at the hotel must be registered appropriately. 

Liability and Privacy Policy

• I agree that my liability for my bill is not waived, and I agree to be held personally liable if the indicated person, company, or association fails to pay the amount of the charges. I agree that I am responsible for payment of any damages that may occur to the room in which I am registered. In the interest of the safety and security of our guests and property, we reserve the right to enter guest rooms with privacy cards posted.

Parking

• When entering the Club, please stop and identify yourself, as well as your guests, to the Guest Booth ambassador.
• The Club disclaims any responsibility to protect against the loss of or damage to vehicles or their contents.
• Parking is included in the nightly resort fee.

Pets

• For the convenience of all guests and to maintain the highest standard of cleanliness, pets are allowed only in the Beach Club Cottages. View our pet policy here.

Pickleball

• Pickleball clinics and lessons are available. Contact the Tennis Department at 858.551.4680 or Tennis@LJBTC.com to book a lesson, camp or any other information.
• Courts are now reserved online with Court Reserve.If you have not already, you will need to register and create a username and password.

Pool

The pool is closed to children under the age of 18 and fully laned between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day.  During this time period, the pool is restricted to lap swimming by adults only.  

• Children 12 years of age and under must be under the direct supervision of an adult (18 years of age or older).
• Reservations can be made on the CourtReserve app through the Front Desk, Pool Attendant, or Beach Services office.
• The wading pool is for the use of children under eight (8) years of age.  Children in the wading pool must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
• Special swim diapers must be worn by babies at all times in the main swimming and wading pools.  
• Nude children and babies wearing disposable diapers are prohibited from using the swimming or wading pool at any time. (Swim diapers are available for purchase in the Tennis Shop.)
• Due to the family nature of the Club, proper swim attire is required, including bathing suits, board shorts, or rash guards.  Brazilian, G-string or thong bathing suits are not considered to be appropriate and are not permitted on Club property.

Resort Fee

There will be a $58 nightly resort fee (+ taxes $66.89) per room to provide guests with the following services:

• WiFi Throughout the Hotel
• Use of our Fitness Center

Safety Deposit Box

Safety deposit boxes and guest room safes are provided for the protection of your valuables. La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club is not responsible for valuables not deposited either at the front desk deposit boxes or in the safe located in your guest room. La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club regrets it cannot accept liability for valuables left in rooms.

Smoking

• La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is a smoke-free property. Smoking is not permitted in guest rooms or on our grounds, including the beach.
• Please note that a cleaning fee of $250 per room/suite will be charged to guests who are in violation of this policy.

Tennis

• Our 13 tennis courts are open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Tennis courts are open for singles use and doubles play and must be reserved through the CourtReserve app.
• No court fees apply.
• Please adhere to the posted dress code.
• All guests must wear shoes with non-marking soles.
• Private and Group Lessons are available.
