La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club Policies

We look forward to having you stay with us at The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, a private Member and Guest property. We ask all Guests to keep in mind the following Club Policies:

BEACH

  • Our private beach is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Barbeques, tables and chairs are available for rent daily.
  • Barbeques will be set-up on the beach and lit at 5 p.m.
  • The Club will provide community barbeques on a complimentary basis based on occupancy demands. 
  • For safety reasons, barbeques may not be set-up on the Esplanade, Esplanade wall or guest room balconies.
  • Personal barbeques and fire pits are not permitted.
  • Alcoholic beverages and glass bottles are permitted on the private beach.
  • Please note that all California State Alcohol Beverage Control laws are enforced at all times.
  • Amplified music is not allowed on the beach.
  • Swimmers use the beach at their own risk. The Club does not provide lifeguards and is not responsible for injuries incurred while using the beach.
  • The Club is not responsible or liable for articles collected, damaged, lost or stolen.
  • Due to the family nature of our private Club, please refrain from wearing overly revealing swimwear.

BEACH EQUIPMENT

  • Complimentary lounge chairs and umbrellas are provided, and are limited to one per registered guest.
  • Beach equipment (including chairs, umbrellas and wind boards) left unoccupied for one hour or more may be re-distributed by the Beach Crew to other guests.

BEACH PARTIES

  • We welcome parties of up to 19 people and offer several options if your party would like a meal or snack on the beach.
  • For gatherings of 20 people or more, please contact the Club’s Catering office at x4663 for our full-service packages including customized menus, decor and entertainment. Please note: we do not allow outside vendors, caterers or chefs.

POOL

  • The pool is open daily from sunrise to sunset.
  • Lap swimming is open daily from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. for swimmers ages 18 years and over.
  • Pool is partially laned from 6 to 9 a.m.
  • Swimmers use the pool at their own risk. The Club does not provide lifeguards and is not responsible for injuries to anyone using the pool.
  • Children under 12 years of age must be under the supervision of an adult.
  • Baby flotation devices are permitted. Rubber rafts, balls and other water toys are not allowed.
  • Babies must wear disposable swim diapers—available for purchase at the Tennis Shop.
  • Due to the family nature of our private Club, please refrain from wearing overly revealing swimwear.

TENNIS

  • The 12 championship tennis courts are open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • No court fees apply.
  • Please adhere to the posted dress code.
  • All guests must wear shoes with non-marking soles.
  • Book court reservations a day in advance with our Tennis Shop at x4680.
  • Court reservations are accepted for every day except Mondays. Non-reserved courts are available on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Please use the sign-in board located at the Tennis Desk located between Courts 1 and 2.

GOLF

  • Golfers use the course at their own risk and are responsible for damages or injuries from the flight of their golf ball.
  • Golf instruction is available by Club pro only.
  • Golf fees will be charged to your guest room.
  • Guest fees for Spindrift Golf Course are $7.50 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $6 for children (ages 6-12).

FITNESS ROOM

  • Open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily for use by adults 18 years and over.
  • Proper fitness attire and exercise shoes must be worn while using the equipment.

AROUND THE CLUB

  • As a safety precaution, use of skateboards, roller skates/blades, wheelies, segways, hover boards and scooters is prohibited in all areas.
  • Bicycles are permitted around the Duck Pond and may be stored in the bike rack adjacent to Tennis Court 6.
  • The Fitness Room is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. for use by adults 18 years and over.
  • Golfers use the course at their own risk and are responsible for damages or injuries from the flight of their golf ball.
  • Golf fees will be charged to your guest room.
  • Bocce ball court is open daily on a first-come, first-served basis. No court fees apply.
  • Bocce ball sets are available and can be found in the bin next to the bocce ball court.
  • Smoking is only permitted on the private beach, parking lot and golf course.
  • To help make everyone’s outdoor experience as pleasant as possible, please do not feed the birds.
  • Use of cell phones in dining areas is prohibited.
  • Children 12 and under must be in the direct company of a supervising adult in all Club areas.
  • Footwear and cover-ups/shirts are required at all times inside the Club Dining restaurant and outdoor patio.

DRONES

  • Use of drones is prohibited in all Club areas.

PETS

  • For the convenience of other guests, and in an effort to provide the cleanest accommodations available, pets are not permitted at the Club.
  • Front Desk staff will help you make alternate plans for your pet.

SMOKING

  • In accordance with California state law, smoking of cigarettes, e-cigarettes or cigars is prohibited in the Club Dining Room and patio, The Marine Room and The Shores Restaurant.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the following areas: Guest rooms and balconies, Walnut Lounge, La Sala and Palm Room, Beach esplanade, Courtyard areas, Swimming pool, Tennis courts and spectator stands, Club corridors and breezeways
  • Smoking is permitted in the following areas: The private beach, Golf course (except near the playground), Parking lot and pond area

PARKING

  • When entering the Club, please stop and identify yourself, as well as your guests, to the Guest Booth ambassador.
  • The Club disclaims any responsibility to protect against the loss of or damage to vehicles or their contents.

GUEST FEES

  • Please notify the Front Desk or Ambassador Booth at ext. 4678 to register all visitors.
  • Visitors must be accompanied by a registered guest at all times.
  • Guest fees are assessed daily.
  • Daily guest fees for adults (ages 13 and up) are $25 and $35 on Saturdays and Sundays from July through September.
  • Guest fees for children ages 6 to 12 are $10 per day.
  • Guest fees and purchases made by your guests will be charged directly to your guest room.
  • Guest use of the Club is limited to three days per month, per individual.
