La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club features an experienced staff of United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) pros that offer lessons, clinics, and services for beginners through seasoned players. With a range of classes, weekly mixers, clinics, game matching, and Cardio Tennis workouts, we can tailor the perfect tennis program for players of all ages.

Proper tennis attire and tennis shoes are required of all players. Please see Tennis Rules for details.
Due to the private nature of our property, Tennis Services and courts are reserved for Club Members and their guests or registered hotel guests only.
Private and semi-private lessons ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours are available for adults and children with our certified USPTA Tennis Professionals.

Group lessons include up to six students per clinic. Clinics are custom-tailored to meet the needs of each group, incorporating techniques, strategies, video analysis, and gameplay.

The Club is one of the best places to stay and play with your group. Our USPTA-certified tennis pros offer group lessons for all hotel guests looking to play for a weekend or extended week stay and can accommodate small and large groups of all skill levels. Group lessons are a great way for players to hone their skills, learn new and exciting ways to compete, and enjoy our fun and invigorating tennis programs. Conan Lorenzo is the Club’s Director of Tennis, bringing more than ten years of professional expertise in the tennis industry. In April 2019, Conan was the recipient of the Janet Louer Junior Team Tennis National Organizer of the Year. Conan’s former experience includes five years as the Director of Junior Programs at the George Barnes Junior Tennis Center in San Diego, coaching USA Team Tennis teams and leading four teams to sectionals. Additionally, he coached and managed the Club’s World Team Tennis team, leading two teams to the national championship, with both winning first place. He also spent two years as an Assistant Pro and Master Racket Stringer at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club from 2000 to 2002 and four years as the Head Pro at the Sammamish Club in Seattle, Washington from 1998 to 2000. Conan graduated from Washington State University and spent four years on the school’s NCAA tennis team. He is also an RSPA P-1 Certified pro, official umpire, and lines person. He has been frequently published in Racket Tech Magazine, Tennis Magazine & Advantage Magazine.

2023
JJ Jayapal brings extensive experience in pickleball instruction, competition, player development and program leadership to La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. Since joining the Club in 2023, he has helped grow its pickleball program through private instruction, clinics, organized match play, leagues, tournaments, socials and special events, while also contributing to the expansion of the Club’s pickleball facilities from two courts to five.
Prior to joining the Club, JJ held leadership roles at The Santaluz Club, Lomas Santa Fe Country Club and Bobby Riggs Racket & Paddle Club, where he built and expanded pickleball programs, developed players and oversaw instructional teams and events.
JJ currently serves as a Coach Developer for the Professional Pickleball Registry, training and certifying more than 70 new coaches annually. He previously served as a Coach Developer for the Racquet Sports Professionals Association and has held leadership roles with USA Pickleball, RSPA and the San Diego District Tennis Association.
JJ was named RSPA Pickleball Coach of the Year and has coached alongside some of the sport’s top professionals, including Ben Johns, Tyson McGuffin, Anna Bright, Collin Johns, Irina Tereschenko, James Ignatowich, Callie Jo Smith and Jay Devilliers.
